This past Friday, Noname dropped her highly anticipated sophomore album, Room 25. I've had it on repeat ever since. Hailing from Chicago, Noname is revered in her community but doesn't quite get the respect and attention she deserves nationally or globally. I'm hoping that changes. She's smart and witty, and her flow feels effortless. You feel apart of the conversation when she rhymes, part of the thought. Give it a listen, front to back. And also peep Doreen St. Félix's piece about Noname and the album for The New Yorker. Because if this short intro about Noname's music didn't make you wanna listen, St. Félix's will.

I love fall vegetables. (I love all vegetables.) But really, I'm so geeked to head to the farmers' market this weekend and peep the squash and radicchio and Brussels sprouts. And eggplant. What a delightful vegetable. Check out this roasted eggplant recipe with cashew butter and pickled peppers. It's well-balanced with a variety of flavors and textures. Yup, yum!

I hope this isn't the first song you've heard from Supa Bwe, but if it is, that's cool and I'm glad I could put you on. His new cut "Entropy" features Dounia and I certainly hope the two team up again in the future. It's calm and smooth. I've been spinnin' this track a lot at the beach or while I'm sitting at home painting.

Dirt is cool. And super complex and really incredible. Did you know that there are more organisms in 1 tablespoon of soil than there are people on Earth? Or that in the U.S. alone there's over 70,000 different types of soil. Cool, huh? You can read more fascinating facts about what's beneath your feet here.

Shoutout to my pal Ally for putting me on to Pod Save America earlier this year. The team over at Crooked Media is working to tackle this whole issue we have with people not voting. (You're lame if you don't vote.) Head over to Vote Save America for all your voting needs. It's almost November, people. This is serious.
