Shel Silverstein is one of my favorite authors. Yes, he writes books for children, but more often than not, they are also for adults. Strong, simple messages to remind us that life can be uncomplicated if we let it.
Silverstein's book, "The Missing Piece and the Big O," does just that. Maria Popova of BrainPicking's summarizes of the book quite elegantly when she writes, "[The Missing Piece and the Big O is] a minimalist, maximally wonderful allegory at the heart of which is the emboldening message that true love doesn’t complete us, even though at first it might appear to do that, but lets us grow and helps us become more fully ourselves."

"I didn't know you were going to grow." "I didn't know either," said the missing piece.

TO LISTEN TO
Mahalia's got an album coming out early September that I am very excited for. "Simmer," featuring Burna Boy, is one of the first singles from the collection, and a perfect track to spin as we close out these last few weeks of summer.
So much good music dropped last week: Young Thug's "So Much Fun," Snoh Aalegra's "- Ugh, those feels again" and "Juicebox" from Mac Ayres (which has features from Butcher Brown and 9th Wonder!).
