Tell your friends you love them

Sharing is fun. I’ve always liked to share. It’s the reason I started this newsletter. To share ideas, music and recipes. It's the reason there's a 'From a Friend' section, because my friends share cool things with me all the time.
You see, I believe sharing is one of the foundations of any strong friendship. We share bits and pieces of ourselves with others and as we do we grow together and develop relationships filled with trust and compassion. Sharing can be vulnerable and scary, but when you find the right ones to share with, it’s always worth it.
Text your friends today and share with them the reasons why you love them.

"It’s deeply poignant that we should expend so much effort on trying to look strong before the world when all the while it’s only ever the revelation of the somewhat embarrassing, sad, melancholy and anxious bits of us that are what makes us endearing to others and can transform strangers into friends."

Zhug is fuego. A hot sauce from Yemen, also known as daqqus, the cilantro-parsley combo incorporates fresh spices and heat certain to elevate any dish. Try it on grilled vegetables or toast and eggs. It's a really good topper on hummus, too.

Ellen Gustafson is a photographer based in Minneapolis. Her photos are crisp and distinctive. While most of her portfolio is portraits and events, my favorite shots from Ellen are often her travel and still life shots. Go give her IG a look. It's beautiful.

I really like the whole HBK Gang. Individually, they each have a sound and style, and together, they collaborate flawlessly. I always have fun when I listen to their music. Kool John's track, "Ahh Shit Gah Damn!" features Snoop Dogg & Iamsu! and it hits best in the car after work and obviously on Saturday nights.

Why does yogurt love going to the museum? Because it's cultured.

Did you know the Caesar salad was invented in Tijuana? A French-inspired Italian chef, Caesar Cardini, immigrated to America in the 1910s, but later moved to Tijuana because of prohibition. With very few ingredients left after a busy shift, the dish was born more out of ingenuity than anything else. Traditionally, the salad is prepared tableside to add a little jazz to the simple recipe. #AppreciateAClassic.

Joey Pecoraro makes dreamy music. His ability to layer and transition throughout a song is definitely a staple of his sound. His recent album, "Music for Happiness" is a lovely soundtrack for productive mornings. Try giving it a spin on an early morning when the sun's waking up and you're pouring your first cup of coffee.

My friend Carrie has one of the best dogs, Louie. He's huge. He's also gentle and calm. Spending time with Lou is a guarantee of smiles and laughter. I guess what I'm saying is that dogs really are the greatest. Knowing this, Carrie shared an op-ed on man's best friend and why a big dog is the best companion. I can't wait to get a dog of my own. Until then, I'll be hanging with Lou.
