- Detroit is celebrated summer with a HUGE outdoor roller rink, basketball courts, art and DJs, and I think it's something every city should invest in.
- Artists I've been enjoying: Amber Emmi, David Bru and Cinta Arribas.
- The internet feels like such a normal, accessible part of many of our every day lives. Heck, we often get frustrated when it takes more than 30 seconds to load a website on our phones. But for many Americans, internet access is spotty at best, more realistically, non-existent. And that's especially true for Native Americans and tribal lands. NPR put together an illustrated look at one Pueblo teacher's experience with internet access during the pandemic. And if you've got a few extra dollars, consider donating to the Pueblo communities as they continue to face effects of Covid-19.
- So since we last connected via More Water, iconic photographer Chi Modu passed away. His work spans generations of music and culture with a raw and unique style that made his photos feel so real. The NYT put together a nice piece to honor his life and his work.
- IT'S SOUP SEASON BABY. A spinach and pea soup with lemon, garlic and chives. It's bright, it's cozy, and it's great for dipping crusty, warm, buttered baguette.
- Would you get a tattoo for a lifetime of free tacos?
- Michael Lee was a dear co-worker, and then friend, for the last 5 years. He also had the highest open rate of More Water for which I am very grateful. Michael passed away suddenly last month. One thing I've long struggled with in Western culture is how we so quickly are to forget the dead. It makes people uncomfortable when we talk about people who have passed on to the *wherever it is you go.* I don't like that. I like remembering. Keeping loved ones alive through us is a true form of magic. So, I'd like to share his obituary with you all as a small way of remembering of his unending kindness and the joy he shared so selflessly with the world.
- Why hasn't somebody started an Instagram of news bloopers? 'Til they do, enjoy these.
- Animation and illustration students at San Jose State University put together this touching video on 'blooming' and it might be the pick me up you've needed.
- A couple of songs I've been listening to lately: "Moonflower" by Maya Delilah, P-Lo featuring E-40 "Again," and "Supermodel" by Phabo.
