The holidays can be a hard time of year. I always find myself reading some kind of book focused on wellness or spirituality in December. And this December is no different. I picked up one of my favorite books, "When Things Fall Apart" by Pema Chödrön, to give it another read. Much like the advice she gives in her book, Pema's words are raw and compassionate. She provides relatable anecdotes. As she exams and reflects on fear and suffering, Pema ultimately reminds us about the importance of acceptance, the present moment, and making space to feel for our feelings.
It' a good read, in December, or whenever. And I suppose I bring it up as a reminder to be a little more tender and a little more kind, in your thoughts, your words and your actions this holiday season.

Full disclosure I haven't made this one yet. But it's on my list for this weekend. And I've heard it's difficult, but I'm committed. Seriously, have you ever had a good farinata? It's incredible. Delicate, flaky, buttery (even though there's no butter!!) – it's a great side or snack.

I'm not much for color tattoos – at least for myself – but holy moly, Zihee, a tattoo artist in Krorea is making me rethink that. Check out her work on IG. It's artful and breathtaking.

Eddie Kendricks is one of my GOAT's in the r&b/soul music game. From The Temptations to his solo work, the man could siiiiing. "Intimate Friends" is one of my favorites by Eddie, and I always get excited when I hear it sampled, cause the melody is so smooth.
(It's been sampled by Erykah, Isaiah Rashad, Common and Alicia Keys, among others.)

It's no secret ya girl used to smoke a lot of pot. But, what was once a fun recreational activity slowly turned into an anxiety inducing pastime, so I quit. At least mostly. Then I found out about CBD. CBD is pretty much everywhere now, and I think that's a good thing. CBD has helped me manage anxiety and is great for treating joint and muscle pains (seriously cbd x sauna = rebirth). There's a whole lot of other benefits I encourage you to explore. And if you want to give it a try, I recommend Select's pens and tinctures. Huge fan of the lemon.

Admittedly I've been sleeping on Big K.R.I.T. for while. I really enjoyed his first album, Live from the Underground, but then I guess I just got caught up in other music and he fell off my radar. Until recently, that is. "Learned from Texas" popped up on a playlist somewhere and I've had it on repeat ever since. It's absolute fire. The beat alone makes me feel fun and good. I hope it does the same for you.
(P.S. - play this one turned all the way up for full effect.)

I can't remember which one of you put me on the On Being podcast, but thank you to whoever did. A recent episode with Pico Iyer focused on slowing down. And it was just what I needed to hear. Passing it along incase you need to hear it too.

If you need something to watch, I highly recommend "Momentum Generation." The film offers a wonderful and insightful reflection from the group of surfers who changed the sport and brought it mainstream. Highs and lows, and insane visuals, “Momentum Generation” tells a story about fun and friendship. It's available on HBO
