The NBA is Back
It's my favorite season. I'm so excited to watch Russ tonight. I'm so excited basketball is back. Looking forward to a ridiculous, jaw-dropping, super fun season ahead. And as excited as I am, I must admit, I still miss Tim Duncan. So it only feels right to leave you with the best basketball video on the internet.
Whippin'
This is absolutely one of my most favorite recipes of all time. An apple, cheese & chive salad. I first had the dish at Café Lurcat in Minneapolis and taught myself how to make it. It's tart. It's juicy. It's nutty. It's fresh. It's honestly the perfect snack. (And great for entertaining, too.)
Art I Like
Recognizing an icon today: David Hockney. I adore Hockney's work. The English pop artist is widely known for his paintings, but also works in photography and printmaking among other mediums.  And his 1972 pool scene is set to become the most expensive piece of art by a living artist. (BTW, I read a really great tweet once that went something like: support artists who are alive, the dead ones don't need your money. I agree wholeheartedly.)
A Song I Like

My friend Pete put me onto this track and it's been in the loop for the past few weeks. The Blood Cultures remix of Cool Company's "Habit" is  groovy and catchy. Good to listen to when you're getting ready in the morning. Yes. Definitely listen to it then.

Did you know humans are the only mammals that actively delay sleep? Or that the introduction of color television corresponds with humans dreaming in color? Check out this infographic for more strange facts around one of my favorite activities
Another Song I Like

Ella Mai dropped her self-titled album last Friday and it's good. Certainly "Boo'd Up" is a very good track, but Mai is more than the hit that resurfaced this summer. Her recent album comes after three EPs, all  which have been predominantly produced by DJ Mustard (album included). The two make great music together. Check out "Sauce" first, then give the whole album a spin.
From a Friend
A friend of a friend sends out an interesting article every Sunday night, and this week's was really good. So good that I'm including it here for y'all to check out. It's on the rise of tribalism in the 21st century, making way for Tr*mpism. And then, considering it on a broader scale, how tribalism exists in your life: art, yoga, religion, athletic fandom. George Packer, author of the article, reminds readers, "Tribes demand loyalty, and in return they confer the security of be," arguing that we'll give up consciousness and free thought for the sense of belonging and identity. Anyways, I'll stop before I regurgitate the whole article. Set 10 minutes aside this afternoon to give it a read.
One Last Thing
Looking for a new coffee table book? I stumbled across The Art Book in a bar this past weekend and was enamored. The A to Z book covers 500 of the greatest artists of all time across mediums, techniques and time periods. And it's at Barnes & Noble for five dollars and some change
